Influence of mixed-phase TiO2 on the activity of adsorption-plasma photocatalysis for total oxidation of toluene

Herein, the effects of different crystalline phases TiO2 on adsorption-plasma photocatalytic oxidation toluene were investigated. First, photocatalysts loaded a molecular sieve (MS) characterised and catalytic performance abatement was evaluated in plasma system. The COX yield pure anatase (An) sample outperformed other samples process, especially for CO2 (69.1%). It revealed that highest space-time-yield 2.35 gco2/Lcat•h also achieved using plasma-An/MS. However, total (99.5%) plasma-P25/MS plasma-generated UV flux only played minor role photocatalyst activation because very low 2.7 μW/cm2 generated by discharge. For degradation pathway, compared with plasma-MS system, byproducts 1,3-Butadiyne (C4H2), guanidine, methyl- (C2H7N3) did not exist TiO2-assisted indicating difference pathway. There no obvious organic generation, almost complete mineralisation all observed after 30 min treatment, exception ethylamine (C2H7N) acetaldehyde (C2H4O). Finally, cycled study conducted to reveal sustainability process. A partial deactivation plasma-An/MS less than 7% decrease selectivity 7 cycles revealed, which is promising result use possible industrial applications.
